The Tourist Development Council’s Marketing Committee will begin the 2013-2014 series of meetings on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing headquarters at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale. The committee is proud to welcome featured speaker Robert Skrob, Executive Director of Florida Association of Destination Marketing Organization who will present a statewide tourism update and legislative overview. Robert Skrob, CPA, CAE has served as the Executive Director of Florida Association of Destination Marketing Organizations since January 2001. Under his leadership, FADMO’s membership has grown to represent over 99% of Florida’s tourism industry. Robert launched two annual events on behalf of the association; in the Fall the Annual Conference dedicated to CEOs while the Destination Marketing Summit provides education to all levels of county tourism promotion agencies in the Spring. Robert is the owner of Membership Services, Inc., an association management company specializing in membership marketing, recruitment and retention. In 1999 he was tested and certified by the American Society of Association Executives as a Certified Association Executive, a designation he has maintained in the years since. Although he hasn’t practiced public accounting since 1995, he maintains his license and fulfills its continuing education requirements for his mother, who wants him to keep his license so he has something to fall back on if “the tourism thing” doesn’t work out. Robert has been married to Kory since 1994 and has two children, a daughter Samantha (17) and a son Robert (13). He enjoys running and smoking Partagas #10 cigars, although rarely at the same time.
